For three weeks in August 2017 United Civil worked around the clock with Walsh Construction to relocate utilities for the high profile Commonwealth Avenue Bridge Replacement Project.

Our scope of work included the installation of multiple utility crossings beneath MBTA Green Line tracks. Six crews alternated 12-hour shifts, seven days a week to meet the accelerated bridge replacement schedule. All while coordinating seamlessly with multiple contractors, we removed the existing track ballast, removed and replaced the MBTA electrical duct bank system, provided new conduit systems for Verizon, Eversource, Boston University Communications, City of Boston waterline, and Boston Traffic Control signal and street lighting.

United Civil Attends the #NEECE2017 Conference

United Civil participated in the 24th annual New England Conference and Exposition, hosted by NECA and CPES. The regional event brings together professionals in the energy generation sector and features respected industry speakers and panelists, as well as over 300-attendees and exhibitors.

Discussions covered topics such as environmental issues regarding the Mock Project and transmission/ linear permitting along with fueling concerns under the new administration.

The event was well attended and was a great opportunity to connect with new and previous members.

Wrapping Up Safety Week 2017

United Civil participated in Safety Week, a nationally recognize program that brings awareness of construction site safety to inspire those working in the construction industry to be leaders in safety.

United Civil is committed to job site safety 365-days a year, and took time this week to show our continuing commitment to eliminating worker injury and to re-communicate our dedication to our employees that their safety matters.

Our Safety Manager, Matt Gibson, visited sites on Monday to greet crews with new Toolbox Talks as well as handing out new safety shirts designed with our Safety 365 logo.

Marketing Manager, Joanna Frechette, created a campaign aimed towards this year’s Safety Week “It’s in Our Hands”, bringing safety tips to both Facebook and LinkedIn helping to spread the word in safety.

Although Safety Week 2017 has concluded, United Civil will continue our mission in job safety by increasing safety awareness; all day and everyday.

United Civil's New Safety Vehicle Has Arrived!

Our new safety vehicle has arrived as we gear up to celebrate Safety Week - May 1 thru 5, 2017. Safety Week is an opportunity for companies to work together and rally around a common cause. During Safety Week, we also take the opportunity to thank our employees for their commitment to safety at work and at home. Working safe is our family mission, and we manage safety everyday with our exclusive program called Safety 365.

Winter Wonderland Gift Drive

United Civil continues their holiday tradition in support of Housing Families. Generous employees and friends donated many toys, clothes and gift cards for the organization's Annual Holiday Gift Drive. All donations benefitted  families in the program during the holiday season. Gifts are collected for the Wonderland Boutique where parents are able to select gifts that fit best for their children. We thank our all who helped our efforts in making the holiday season a bright one for children and families.

We Spartan for Veterans

This weekend, a team from United Civil competed in Reebok's Spartan Race at Fenway Park. The team jumped many walls, climbed thousands of stairs and did more burpees than one could count, but all completed the obstacles and did so while supporting our veterans during Veterans Day weekend. Our team raised money for New England Center and Home for Veterans, a Boston-based organization that helps veterans who are at-risk of homelessness. For more information on NECHV, please visit

Wings for Career Fairs

United Civil was an energized filled table at Wentworth Institute of Technology's career fair. The campus' Tansey Gym had over 190 employers and approximately 600 students looking to connect. Matt Gibson and Maggie Crateau discussed the co-op positions available, the office and field life at United Civil, and overall job seeking advice for those students who asked.

We're happy to announce that Connor Dufour, a junior at WIT, is the winner of our Beats Pill+ Bluetooth Speaker!

We played an active role in Safety Week, with a Safety Stand Down lunch at all jobsites. Project Managers and Principals participated in the lunch and led the discussion in the importance of safety.
